I Was An MIT Educated Neurosurgeon Now I'm Unemployed And Alone In The Mountains How Did I Get Here?

Absolutely amazing watch. I have lived with chronic pain and thoracic outlet syndrome for almost ten years.

The system

The western medical system’s solution was opioids of course. So I was essentially made dependent on substances I didn’t want to be taking. I’ve been in the ICU twice with respiratory depression from these medications, had multiple seizures, and struggle to make it through the day without being in agony.

The reality

Surgery was always the last option. I was young and fit and I could manage the pain with drugs, what’s the problem right? I haven’t had surgery yet and I don’t believe I will because the system and models of the institutions are broken. It’s all about money and big pharma at the end of the day.

Just a few words from someone who has lived in debilitating pain for almost a decade.
